Fun surf, perfect weather, and live music brought the community together for the 24th Annual Cosmic Creek in Dana Point. After a two year hiatus, we were extremely stoked to see the community come out for everyone’s favorite event to kick off the summer. Needless to say, there was no shortage of cosmic vibrations, great surfing, and epic moments at this year’s event. View the full recap here: https://www.vissla.com/blogs/news/cos...
A special thanks to Yeti, the Ecology Center, DaFin Hawaii, Eric Diamond, and everyone who lent a hand in making Cosmic Creek 2022 a success. See you next year for the 25th Annual!

The 'Volcanic' project has been going on behind the scenes at Firewire Surfboards for a few months now.
'Volcanic' references basalt; a rock formed from the rapid cooling of lava... Yes, hot lava. The stuff that comes from volcanoes. In fact, 90% of all volcanic rock on earth is basalt.
In Firewire's new 'Volcanic' surfboards, basalt fibers that are extruded from volcanic rocks are then crushed, melted and further extruded into woven fibers to make up a cloth that is then vacum bagged and laminated with bio resin around each Volcanic Seaside.
This Volcanic lamination creates a performance characteristic that is very similar to carbon in terms of weight, flex and response, but because the fibers in basalt are derived from organic raw materials, and then combined with bio resins, it serves as a better eco alternative than using traditional carbon fiber cloth.
You can find the Volcanic Seaside at my surf shop Salt Culture in Encinitas, California, or on Firewire's website at:

And also at Rob Machado Surfboards website at:

These Volcanic Seasides are also available in limited quantities at Huntington Surf and Sport, Hawaiian South Shore, Surf Ride, Real Water Sports, Surf Station and Bird's Surf Shed.
