DEUS POWDER TOOLS 2020

DEUS POWDER TOOLS 2020 from DEUS EX MACHINA JAPAN on Vimeo.

DEUS POWDERTOOLS snowboards were launched in 2014 in collaboration with surfboard builder Takuya “TAPPY” Yoshikawa. We saw it then as we do now, as our addition to this philosophy progression. Ever since that first season, the Deus crew make their annual mountain pilgrimages to once again connect with our snow people, their mountains and while morally speaking its not the most important aspect of the trip, it is the driving force behind it, we go there to test the new season’s quiver of snow boards.

Our recent trip took us to the far north of Honshu, to the peaks of Iwate where we spent our days on a profusion of excursions, of uphill treks and of course the benefits, down again on some absolutely outstanding slides with our friends on their mountainsides.

We thank them for their indulgence, friendship and wit. For the rest of you, here are some images we hope you’ll enjoy.

Tools for powder

Influenced by its fondness of deep powdery days of past, DEUS POWDERTOOLS is a notion conjured up by the Deus chapter in Japan. With steady snowfall common in many regions of the country, frosty winters are a part of life here. With the ‘SnowSurf’ subculture being around in Japan for decades, the Japanese have been experimenting with hand shaped edgeless snowboards for some time now. Incorporating radical tail and nose concepts to innovative technology and material applications for … easy carve, awesome float, smooth glide. But this movement has recently spread globally focusing interest to Japan’s winter mountains. Saikou Psycho - Volcom Asia's first ever all-Asian skate trip

Volcom has been supporting Asian skateboarders for quite some time now. Some of them have recently made a name in the skateboarding community through bigger media contests. Sanggoe, for example, took home silver at the 2018 Asian Games, as well as Ju-Won who made a huge comeback in the same contest, which earned him the bronze medal. Taihou is another rising star, qualifying for major international contests, as well as receiving street creds for his best trick showdown at the 2018 Tampa Am. It was only a matter of time before Volcom rallied Asia’s rising talents to hit the streets of Tokyo, Japan. The diverse skate crew consisted of: Taihou Tokura ‘T4’ (Japan) Tatsuma Masuda (Japan) Ju-Won Eun (South Korea) Sanggoe Tanjung (Indonesia) Mario Palandeng (Indonesia) Pan Jia Jie ‘PJ’ (China) Bank Nattapol (Thailand) Read more at http://vol.cm/saikouyt Music: “Tantrum” by Flying Hair https://flyinghair.bandcamp.com/ “Honey Pie” by VAJJ https://vajjmusic.bandcamp.com/ “Wedding Song” by Channel https://channeltheband.bandcamp.com/r...
