A Mark Richards Fish On A Hawaiian Slab

October oil. A few days ago Mason Ho and Sheldon Paishon surf a fun size slab in Hawaii. A wave is called a slab once the lip is oddly thick and has a special look. We love it when the lip is extra thick. Doesn’t matter how big the wave is long as the lip is thickkkkkk! Happy Aloha Friday! Filming: Rory Pringle Surfers: Mason Ho & Sheldon Paishon Jams: Hendrix. Mom collection. All surfboard info in end credit roll.

Gato Herói Acid

Gato Herói Acid from Wild Things on Vimeo.

The original acid was conceived by Robin over 10 years ago for a trip to Morocco, testing prototypes in the long running points from knee high to double overhead. The Acid Series has evolved from these early trips into a few closely related models. Incredible paddle power, drive and speed on the open face, these boards love surfing with the rail engaged! The acid will surprise you with its original approach in all situations - from driving turns and tubing sections on bigger days to high speed trim on knee-high pipes. It fits well among a quiver of longboards and is a versatile board, great to travel with!

He Rode A Finless Board At Teahupo'o?! | William Aliotti in 'Radiance'

Going finless at Chopes. As far as we can recall, this is a novel pursuit. I'm sure some smart and thoughtful individual will correct me in the comments, however. Regardless of whether or not he was first, we found William Aliotti's efforts rather admirable, and it made us hope/wonder if similar results could be yielded on a day of more substantial surf. It seems Will was thinking just the same thing... "At first, I was like no way this is too heavy, and then the perfect day came!" William explained. "And I think I could take bigger waves. Once the rail is in, it's on! I have some future challenges for this board and I can’t wait to try..." Video: Manuel Claudeville Morell

Do You Think You Could Rip a Transition-Era Skip Frye?

On paper, the latest “Shed Sessions” installment looked to be a recipe for success. A Skip Frye-shaped, JoJo Roper-repaired transition-era Gordon & Smith selected by “Shed Sessions” impresario and Bird’s Surf Shed owner Eric “Bird” Huffman and earmarked for SoCal stylemaster Devon Howard–what could go wrong? While that’s surely an unimpeachable crew of San Diegans, Howard’s virgin San Clemente test-drive got off to a shaky start, the 8’3” x 23 ¼” craft causing the typically stoic stylemaster fits and leading him to call the vee-bottomed relic, “hands-down, the worst surfboard I’ve ever ridden in my life.” Yet, if Howard’s surfing on the obscure vessel proved anything, it’s that his version of kooking it is an average surfer’s version of style and grace. Howard’s “Shed Sessions” also proves him a truly flexible thinker, one rearing for a challenge. With Huffman in tow, Howard visits Frye, hoping the man whose hands shaped the board will help Howard take control of its proverbial wheel. When asked for his thoughts on the board, Frye’s priceless answer reminds us why time spent in the bay with your local master craftsman is always time well spent. Click play to watch Howard look pretty good riding a board he found pretty challenging.
