Distinctly shaped with an inverted swallow, set inside a wide square tail, and a speed bleeding, afterburner, release channel exiting the tail. “The PuddleFish allows full force, small wave, rail surfing with confidence and none of the cumbersome drift usually associated with “alternative” fish shapes.” ~Matt Biolos

This new model is thinned-out and tuned-up for added performance, making it a versatile craft that can energize your average grovel sesh one day then have you screaming down-the-line on clean, head high points the next.
The CI Fish's DNA can be traced back to 2005’s Retro Fish, which two years later inspired the Skinny Fish—a refined version of the Channel Islands Retro Fish, featuring more user-friendly rails with less volume and a quad fin set-up. This third iteration of CI's fish family takes us back to a twin keel set-up but adds some subtle performance board characteristics into a classic plan shape, resulting in an update that fish aficionados and performance board die-hards alike can appreciate. Channel Islands Surfboards' pro team riders such as Dane Gudauskas, Sage Erickson, Conner Coffin, Mike February, and Alex Gray all say that the CI Fish is faster than greased lighting and zips through any flat sections with ease.

Three Perfect Surfboards For Ripping Up Beautiful Mexican Pointbreaks
Last month, we featured Zack Flores putting his self-shaped crafts to the test in Mexico, riding each one switch-foot. Also on that trip with Flores, and inspiring his impressive ambidextrous performance, was 18-year-old Ian Gottron from Dana Point, California. Gottron, a natural, natural foot, spent his time on Mexico's famed right points testing three different boards shaped by three established shapers: A Round Nose Fish Retro quad by Matt Biolos, an asymmetrical twin fin by Donald Brink and a thruster built by Tyler Warren. While Gottron rips on all three, it's his performance on the Warren shortboard that really stands out (especially that stand-up shack at 5:50). "Tyler gave this board to me because it was a hair too thin for him, and I was really stoked to be able to steal this one off him," says Gottron, fresh off a morning of perfect pits. "It surfs just how Tyler surfs: buttery smooth and sick." This clip will inspire you to tuck your standard shortboard away in a corner of your garage and maybe order something weird. That, and book a flight to Mexico.
