Surfing has never been so close to your home.  We partnered with our amigos from SB ramps to bring you the possibility of taking surfing to your home in the easiest way possible.  We are talking about an easy to assemble ramp anyone can set up within hours only with the help of an electric screwdriver. Designed to be completely modular in a way that you can join as many ramps as you want to get the most suiting ramp to your space and needs.  Behind this project we have Joan Galceran (recognized Spanish skater) as Project Manager and Sergi Sallés (California Skateparks Europe) in charge of the manufacturing process. Joan and Sergi have been skating for over 20 years and building skateparks around the globe for17 of those. CI Mid - Custom Modified Twin (Dane Gudauskas)

 

This is Dane Gudauskas on a proto CI Mid with two fins. The CI Mid comes stock as a two plus one, 6.5" center with 3.6" or 4" sides. This set up is a balanced blend of the freedom you get from a single fin but with the added drive the "thruster" vibe gives you from its three fins. You can also ride it as a single-fin. We are currently developing our own single template but in the meantime we recommend the Greenough 4a or the Liddle L Flex in 8" for 6'10 and under, and 8.5" for boards over that up to about 7'6" the maybe you should jump to 9".... Devon Howard has been experimenting with some varied versions of the CI Mid as a twin fin. So far it seems a stock Mid with the new Britt Merrick Twin template is the go, MR Style fins work well too but not as drivey. This version here that Dane Gudauskas is riding has a twin with our AMK (keel fin) set. Having tried the AMK on the Mid as is, Devon found it was too much fin for the Mid's not-so-wide tail template. In this proto he had us widen up the tail to a wide squash and the results were pretty dang good. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, especially if you aren't into Midlength type designs, but for those that are both Devon and Dane are loving this experimental version of the Mid. And just like any designs we have at CI we never stop tinkering and playing around with existing designs to see how we can improve them. So if you have a thought about tweaking any existing models, we'd love to hear from you and have the opportunity to build something custom for ya. As for this board featured here, (6'11 x 21 1/8 x 2 3/4"), we will keep you posted on the Mid Twin version we hope to make available soon but it's still currently being tested to fine-tune fin placement... The World Surf League (WSL) x MF Softboards Global Shaper Challenge was conceived to raise awareness of the creatives who are the heart and soul of the sport of surfing as part of the WSL's #StayLocal campaign, which shines a light on the world's best surfers supporting their local surf communities and inspiring surfers everywhere to do the same.

Shapers, designers and creatives from all surf regions globally were invited to enter a CNC file and softboard design concept and the response was overwhelming.

Burrito Boys - Haydenshapes

 

Nate Tyler, Jake Kelley, Micky Clarke, Dylan Graves and Warren Smith walk into a few super fun Californian beachbreaks with a fresh batch of Haydenshapes boards. The punchline? “Burrito Boys,” a summery, new short film of their road-trippy sessions by filmmaker Matt Payne. With Nate on a Loot FF and White Noiz PE, Jake on a Hypto Krypto PE, Micky on a Cohort I FF, Dylan on a custom Weird Series Prototype and Warren on an Untitled V2 FF—you get a sense of how well this batch of boards really go…and how many breakfast burritos is required to produce such phenomenal surfing. We caught up with the dashing, young Matt Payne and got a little backstory to this new Haydenshapes vid that can’t help but make you want to drop everything and go surf now. BOBBY QUAD

If you’re after a speedy, playful, short-railed board that stays loose yet crisp in the pocket on smaller, weaker days then look no further than the Bobby Quad.

Bobby Martinez challenged us to build him as short of a board as possible with the goal of maximizing his fun in Santa Barbara’s tiny summer surf. He also added that it had to be a quad, and it still had to live up to his high-performance standards. Bobby’s shortboards are 5’8” but for this customized four-finner he was thinking we ought to take it down to 5’2”. By shortening the rail line and distributing the volume into the width throughout the plan shape he’d be able to skate over the flats and carry enough speed to still fit in his signature gauges.

The Bobby Quad has a very low entry rocker that goes into a flat planing surface under the gas pedal portion of the board that provides the speed to get into waves and over those flat sections. The exit rocker is designed to be all business with lots of flip and a generous double concave for added lift to help Bobby boogie down the line in gutless waves. The performance-oriented tail flip combined with the width of the tail and a modified swallow allow for speed and hold during quick directional changes.

The model is designed to be ridden 3 to 6” shorter and  ” to 1/2” wider than your shortboard. For reference, Bobby’s dimensions are 5’2 x 19 x 2 5/16. From other team riders we’ve since learned that the Bobby Quad is versatile enough to be scaled up for those wanting to increase their wave count. The rail stays nicely foiled (not chunky) at fuller dimensions, so to maintain the integrity of the design we recommend adding thickness over width to hit your volume. As for fins, we recommend you run your favorite quad templates. Available with Futures or FCS 2, and can be made in PU, Epoxy or Spine-Tek constructions.
