It kind of all happened last minute, like most good things do. We had a bunch of the Rhythm team emailing in from all over saying their flights were booked and they’ll be here in Noosa come February, coinciding with the Noosa Festival of Surfing. Jordan Spee, already there, Hudson Ritchie, fresh out of Cali, Ambrose McNeil, in the van waiting and Eurico Romaguera, Portugal’s finest, all booked in and en route to Noosa.
What ensued? Well, one can easily guess it had something to do with surfing, drinking beer, partying, laying down hungover, surfing some more, drinking again and eventually ordering seconds at Betty’s Burgers, and to be truthful, I’d say you’re pretty spot on.

Join us Saturday, May 26th from 7-10pm to celebrate Tatsuo's new book "Authentic Wave." The evening will include a special musical performance from Japanese musician Shunji Mori.

Tatsuo's book "Authentic Wave" is a chronicle of traditional surfing in California over the past 20 years. Tatsuo shoots analog film with vintage cameras and lenses, and documents some of the California's best surfers, including Alex Knost, Tyler Warren, Tommy Witt, Ryan Burch, Joel Tudor, and many others.

We ordered a modern single fin, a summer twin, an all-rounder, a high-tech shredder, a quad, something asymmetrical and something hi-fi but just a little wild.
Shapers from every corner of the country, each with a specific expertise, were corralled for the build.
We shipped ‘em all to the newest resort in the Telo Islands off Sumatra – Pinnacles on Telo – off Sumatra there and flew in Gold Coast surf kid with the world at his feet, Sheldon Simkus, to grind ‘em into the dust.

カリスマサーファーRob MahcadoによるFirewire日本限定モデルGrower LFT Seriesのコンセプトムービーです。 Groweモデル説明 Rob Macadoより インドネシアにGrowerと呼ばれるサーフスポットがあり、2008年に私はそこで「the Drifter」の撮影で数週間サーフィンをし、惚れ込んでしまった。 Growerは日本用に改良したGo Fishの進化版だ。スワローテールの先端の幅とノーズを細目にし、ボードの アウトラインをより曲線的にした。 Go Fish同様に速いが、スラスターやクワッド、もちろんツインでの乗り方も出来る能力をも備える事となり、あなたの全てを変えるボードだ。 Go Fishのスピードとスラスターとして乗る事の可能性をブレンドし、もう少しラジカルなボードにしようとした。 Growerは優れたパドル性を持ちながらも、チューブライドをも可能にするマルチボードだ。 Growerの新しいアウトラインに合せて、BOARD EAT BOARDボトム形状をモディファイした。テールに向けて水が流れるチャンネル部のスペースを広くする必要があると感じていたので、フロントフィンの前方のチャンネルに変わり目を作った。それによってこのボードはクワッドで乗る事も可能になり、私としてはその事が一番エキサイトしている。

Kanoa redeems a failed left, with a great right, at Surf Ranch FC 2018
Kanoa has a failed attempt at his first left with a nose plough, but redeems himself on the right with a completed wave and some air time. The right was Kanoa's best wave score of 8.83 at the surf festival.

We first met Ryan during our last year’s surf jaunt through Europe we christened Eurothrash.
Pre the 14 day haze that descended we realized that aside from some really, really fucked up surfing in Psychic Migrations, and knowing he hailed from Southern California – we didn’t know a whole lot about him… But oh do we love a surprise! Ryan turned up with a selection of self shaped sleds that were a constant source of fascination, over the weeks that followed we learnt he’s an intriguing, interesting and above all talented individual. From shaping, to his out look on waves, and of course his surfing, Ryan is one of the most unique characters out there in Surfing. We learnt that if Ryan starts talking about surfing, you quickly pipe down and listen.

Chasing waves below the border, RVCA advocates Ford Archbold, Matt Pagan, Nathan Strom & Grant Noble, cruise the Baja coast line in search of south swells and warm water, in hopes of finding some uncrowded surf. Taking on a fresh head space in desolate waters leads to creative expression. Waves were found and fun was had, both at sea and on land. They exist within the place without compromising its true natures. Sometimes a new location can take hold of a traveler, as the charisma of both personality and place combine to create a whole new artifact. Surfing and moving and living in the current help to keep real life enjoyable.
