Kelly Slater surfs and shares thoughts on the Helium Gamma and LFT Gamma by Slater Designs

The Gamma is the mind of an 11 time World Champion distilled into one shape, built in two different ways, each one brand new. Surfboard reviews are great for grasping how a surfboard might feel under your feet based on how it feels to someone else when under their feet, but for the Gamma review, any feet wouldn't do, so we decided to put it under the best feet we could find - Kelly's. The Helium Gamma is so light it shocks you and so responsive it talks to you. Its bendy and springy but ridged - firm enough for Kelly to load up full force for maximum drive and light enough to whip around with complete quickness. The LFT Gamma is different. It has more weight to it. Its more reassuring under foot and works best in long and lined up walls, or when sizable surf requires some extra confidence. It's firm and forceful. Just like Kelly on a long line at Jeffreys Bay or Rincon. The LFT Gamma is best at controlling the speed a powerful wave gives you, and the Helium Gamma is best at creating speed when a weak wave isn't helping. Kelly loves both. So do we. And so will you. The Gamma is built in both Helium and LFT at surf shops everywhere.

We had no expectations—except being thirsty to start the day rinsing off in the saltwater. Then the sun shined ever brighter, the wind never shivered that it was time to paddle in. Wavegarden's mad surf scientists have now developed over 30 different wave types for the Cove, and there ain't no sign of them slowing down. Needless to say, we're psyched to building Urbnsurf Melbourne, the world's first full-sized Wavegarden Cove, so we can bring more perfect waves than you can count (from slabbing barrels to rampy walls) to Tullamarine in early 2019.

If you don't follow Andrea Coleman on instagram, you're likely already familiar with her work. She shoots and films at Sano, and regularly shares her photos and clips for the rest of us to appreciate and enjoy.

As you can imagine, the potentially catastrophic nuclear waste situation down at San Onofre is near and dear to not only Andrea, but all of us who live in Southern California. (I've heard San Onofre Nuclear Plant houses somewhere in the ballpark of 7x what was released at Chernobyl).

Rather than cowering from the subject, Andrea and the folks at San Onofre Surf Company are teaming up to raise awareness.

Their goal is to raise funds by selling these t-shirts, to take out newspaper ads to further the awareness of the truly catastrophic risks at hand.

Uppercut Deluxe x Noosa Festival of Surfing

The Uppercut Deluxe Crew made up of Lifestyle Ambassador Matt Chojnacki, local shredder Sam Crookshanks plus father son team Michael and Kaimana Takayama hit the points of Noosa for the annual Festival of Surfing.
Noosa is located on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, home to ample waves, endless supplies of coffee and a few rad little hangouts.
Huey was nice enough to provide pumping waves for the first few days, but he proves to be a fickle beast. By the finals all the swell had disappeared, and the competitors were stuck grovelling 1 footers. The team put in a valiant effort and waved the flag high.
Needless to say, fun was had by all. Until next year Noosa.

80’s　Twin Pin　【Side Winder:サイドワインダー】
米軍の短距離空対空ミサイルである『サイドワインダー』のネーミングが授けられたツインピン。波のフェイスを縦横無尽に動きまわるボードは、まさに蛇行した軌跡を描きながら標的を追尾するミサイルそのもである。ドライブの効いたターンと回転性の両方を兼ね備えているが、グライドさせながらのクルーズも気持ちがいい。
ショートレングスでアウトラインはややノーズよりにワイデストを持たせたフォルムが非常に美しいボード。当初、限定10本の希少なレアボードだったが、再販希望の反響が多かったため限定解除し、リリースすることが可能になった名作ボードである。
